ABOUT

I am a first-generation college student raised in western Montana and Utah by parents who worked seasonal jobs in the rafting and skiing industries. My sister and I spent much of our childhood raising pigs, lambs, and chickens, and I grew up connected to the landscapes and communities of the interior West. Those experiences shaped my appreciation for its people, places, and natural complexity, and they continue to guide how I approach teaching and researching the Earth system.

For fun I like mobility training, anything mountains and rivers, kendama and juggling, and reading. I love maps, space exploration and rockets, wildlife, and experimental and downtempo bass music. I'm a lifelong fan of the Utah Jazz and Colorado Rockies and, yes, this dimension of my life has been very sad.​
